California parents now have more legal power than ever to protect their children from curriculum that conflicts with their family’s values — and we’ll show you exactly how to use it.
California’s public schools look very different from the ones you attended. Over the past several decades, education has shifted away from the classical model that built strong readers, critical thinkers, and civically engaged citizens — and toward curriculum that many parents find deeply at odds with their family’s values and beliefs.
Informed Parents – California was founded by parents, grandparents, and community leaders who refused to accept that as inevitable. We are a grassroots non-profit with one driving conviction: parents — not school administrators — are ultimately responsible for their child’s education.

We deliver legally prepared Opt-Out Notices directly to your child’s school, protecting them from instruction that conflicts with your family’s religious beliefs and values — backed by California law and the 2025 U.S. Supreme Court.

Our 58-county volunteer network of passionate parents builds local power, county by county, so no family fights alone.

We help parents form organized groups that attend board meetings, review curriculum, monitor policy, and elect school board trustees who actually represent families.
Schools today are vastly different from those your parents… and even you… might remember. Education has devolved over the past century, moving from a traditional, classical approach experienced in the 50s, 60s and 70s to a more 'Progressive' model. Our goal is to bring America's robust classical curriculum back to our children's schools.
With test scores declining and spending per student increasing, it’s clear something must change. Parents are increasingly alarmed at what their children are—or aren’t—being taught.

California law is clear: when there is a material change in your child’s educational experience, the school has a duty to inform you. And thanks to the landmark Mahmoud v. Taylor Supreme Court decision (June 2025), your rights to opt out of conflicting instruction have never been stronger.
We strongly encourage every California parent to request a Parental Transparency Policy — similar to the one adopted by Chino Valley Unified School District — that formally requires your school to notify you before exposing your child to new or changed curriculum.

If homeschooling or private school isn’t an option for your family right now, you still have legal authority over what your child is exposed to in a California public school.
Our OPT-OUT Notice — developed by a California public interest law firm — makes the process simple, fast, and legally sound.

“I have a dream that my
four little children will
one day live in a nation
where they will not be judged
by the color of their skin
but by the content of
their character.”
“I have a dream that my four little children will
one day live in a nation where they will not be judged
by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
We believe every child in every California classroom deserves to be seen, taught, and judged by the content of their character — not sorted by race, redefined by ideology, or reduced to a demographic. That’s the education we’re fighting to restore.
Informed Parents – California is entirely funded by parents, grandparents, and community members who believe families — not bureaucracies — should shape the next generation. Every dollar goes directly to opt-out support, legal resources, ambassador training, and parent organizing.
